An E&I 2-Minute Read

Nova Southeastern (NSU) renovated and installed new flooring at its revolutionary 300,000 square foot, multi-use facility, "RecPlex." RecPlex serves as a central hub for the 26,000 students that attend Nova Southeastern University. Located on a beautiful 300-acre campus in the Fort Lauderdale - Davie area, NSU is the largest independent institution of higher education in Florida.

NSU's RecPlex  is located in the Don Taft University Center. The RecPlex is home to the largest pool in South Florida. It also includes basketball courts, pickleball courts, racquetball courts, fitness areas, saunas, and many multipurpose studios. The RecPlex is part of the Don Taft University center with a 4,500 seat arena, and is where the DII NSU Sharks play basketball and volleyball. The RecPlex also hosts club and intramural sports events, and holds graduations, concerts, comedians, cheerleading competitions, Special Olympics and banquets.

With students leaving campus to train at outside, less functional facilities, Nova needed a high-performance sports complex that would motivate students and faculty without sacrificing resilience. Choosing Tarkett’s flooring gave NSU the durability within their sports complex that they were looking for, while also incorporating the aesthetic values that matched NSU colors and spirit. See the full case study by Tarkett here.

A high-performance sports complex has influence over a student’s decision about the school that they will attend and Nova was very happy with the results. “The students couldn’t help but be in awe as they entered the complex for the first time,” commented Tom Vitucci, Director of Campus Recreation. “We have been hearing that this facility is more functional than larger universities.

America To Go

An E&I Cooperative Case Study
Spring Branch ISD Realizes Time & Cost Efficiencies with America To Go

America To Go is a catering management solution for school districts and higher education. The company revolutionizes how schools manage catering and food ordering. It reduces costs, risk, increases compliance, streamlines invoicing. It connects users to a broad network of approved caterers and restaurants on a single customized platform.

Spring Branch ISD had a catering contract in place that was not meeting the needs of users. It had limited cuisine options and services, limited vendors, and was being managed outside the district's e-procurement system, which limited control. After using an E&I contract to partner with America To Go, now 50 restaurants and catering services are available through the district's system. Plus customized reports have provided the district with powerful data and insights. The district has seen time savings as well. Tapping into the benefits available through E&I's contract means the school district can move faster than if the school had to conduct an RFP, handle the integration, and manage the contract on its own.
